A little bit about Kent

According to the always reliable Wikipedia, these are some fun facts about Kent:
  • Kent is one of the warmest parts of Britain. On August 10th 2003, in the hamlet of Brogdale near Faversham a temperature of 38.5°C (101.3°F), the hottest temperature ever recorded in the United Kingdom.
  • The ethnicity of the Kent was 96.5% White, 0.9% mixed race, 0.3% Chinese, 1.7% other Asian and 0.4% Black.
  • Whereas much of the UK adopted a comprehensive education system in the 1970s, Kent County Council (KCC) and Medway Unitary Authority are among around fifteen local authorities still providing wholly selective education and grammar schools.

  • KCC has the largest education department of any local authority in the UK, providing school places for over 289,000 pupils.
